Description of content: The Republic of Korea is proposing to amend the "Import Health requirements for Live Horse(s)".

1)    Revise requirements for equine encephalomyelitis in accordance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health code 12.4.2 as below:

-             Equines for export:

a.       showed no clinical sign on the day of shipment and during the three months      prior to the shipment; and

b.      were kept in a quarantine station for the 21 days prior to shipment and were      protected from insect vectors during quarantine and transportation to the      place of shipment; or

c.       were vaccinated not less than 15 days and not more than one year prior to      shipment;

2)    Revise requirements for equine viral arthritis (EVA) in accordance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health code 12.9.2 as below:

-             Agent identification (using semen) can be conducted other than mating method;

3)    Revise requirements for equine influenza virus (EIA) to make vaccination obligatory;

4)    In order to export equines to the Republic of Korea, the horses should be born in the exporting region or raised in the exporting region or state at least six months prior to the shipment.
