Description of content: This Ministerial Decree provides producers and
importers a transitional period of six months to comply with the modified Egyptian Standard ES 273-1/2015 "Sodium Chloride part 1: Food salt" that supersedes ES No. 273-1/2005 "Sodium Chloride part 1: Food salt" that has already been mandated by Ministerial Decree No. 515/2005.

This standard complies with Codex Standard No.150/1985 for food grade salt and B.S No. 998/1990 Amend 2006 "Specification for Vacuum Salt for food use".

This standard specifies the essential requirements and descriptive criteria for food grade salt fortified with Iodine.
