Description of content: The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has proposed to withdraw TIS 2234-2548(2005) Self-ballasted lamps for general lighting services: safety requirements, and replace it with TIS 2234-2557(2014) as a mandatory standard. This draft standard specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements, together with the test methods and conditions, required to show compliance of tubular fluorescent and other gas-discharge lamps with integrated means for controlling starting and stable operation (self-ballasted lamps), intended for domestic and similar general lighting purposes, having:

·                a rated wattage up to 60 W;

·                a rated voltage of 100 V to 250 V;

·                Edison screw or bayonet caps.

It covers photobiological safety, blue light and infrared hazards below the level which requires marking and labelling.
