Description of content: The Philippines is imposing a temporary ban on the importation of FMD-susceptible animals, their products and by-products originating from Jiangsu, People's Republic of China.

Nature of the urgent problem(s) and reason for urgent action: An outbreak of FMD virus serotype O was confirmed affecting a backyard piggery farm last 25 November 2014. There is a need to prevent the entry of FMD-susceptible animals, their products and by-products to protect the health of the local livestock population.
